22nd Global Sketchcrawl Atlanta

Today people with pencils, paints and sketchbooks met in groups for a day of sketching in their city. One of the Atlanta groups met for breakfast at Ria's Bluebird Cafe and then...shivering...crossed Memorial Blvd. to deploy throughout Oakland Cemetery, arguably one of the prettiest spots in Atlanta.

We weren't alone, and I'm not talking about the dear departed. Oakland sustained a lot of damage last year when the tornado touched down in downtown and Cabbagetown. Volunteers are out many weekends and today was no exception.

As always, the photographers and history buffs walked among us.
It was a chilly day for sitting still, but we held to it until past noon. Hope we go back again. Oakland's architecture and plant life, including some history magnolias, is worth a long sketch...just not today.
